After graduating from Galatasaray University Faculty of Law in 2013, Melis gained experience in a leading law firm in Turkey.
She completed her LL.M. at Istanbul Bilgi University and her master thesis on “Validity of Arbitration Agreement and Capacity of the Parties According to the New York Convention” was published as a book in 2020.
Melis has been involved in a wide range of lawsuits including commercial disputes, intellectual property, employment disputes, criminal lawsuits, administrative disputes, debt collection and bankruptcy proceedings. She advises and represents foreign and local clients before Turkish courts and local and international arbitration proceedings. She has been particularly involved in the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards and foreign court judgments in Turkey.
Between 2019-2023, Melis worked as the General Secretary of Istanbul Arbitration Association (ISTA). As of 2023, she is one of the Board Members of ISTA.
She contributes as speaker in several conferences on arbitration and has published articles in the fields of private international law, international procedural law and arbitration.
